Track 2: Discovery Scenarios
In a secure environment, devices do not expose their software and hardware details without valid access credentials. This set of videos explains how to configure JDisc Discovery in order to get the best results from your devices.
JDisc Discovery requires administrative access to Windows computers in order to obtain the full device details. There are three ways to configure access credentials:
- Define access credentials for Active Directory organizational units
- Define access credentials for Windows domains or workgroups
- Define access credentials for a single device
The following three videos explain how to configure access credentials. Our last video within this section explains how to properly scan Unix computers.
Configure Microsoft Active Directory Access
This video explains how to setup Microsoft Active Directory access and how to configure administrative access credentials for devices within organizational units.
Configure Windows Domain and Workgroup Accounts
This video explains how to setup administrative accounts for Windows domains and workgroups.
Discover Windows Computers
This video explains how to discover Windows computers correctly and how to define access credentials in order to identify Windows computers within the network.
Discover Unix Computers
This video explains how to discover Unix computers correctly and how to define access credentials and protocol settings in order to identify Unix computers.
Track 3: Reporting
Device Details
This video explains the device details dialog. The device details dialog displays all information that has been collected for a particular device.
Custom Reports
This video demonstrates how to define your own custom reports and how to define restrictions on selected attributes. |
